What's this website about?
In the spring and summer of 2009 I traveled across North America on an Un-Road Trip. I criss-crossed the United States and Canada using every mode of transportation except the gas-powered car. The trip covered over 12,000 miles by kayak, bicycle, camel, segway, paraglider, crop duster, and whatever else I could find. And I documented the whole trip right here through videos, blog posts, photos, tweets, and GPS coordinates on a map. Why an Un-Road Trip? With the price of gas fluctuating unpredictably, the spring of 2009 seemed like a good time to look beyond our favored mode of transportation. Through the Un-Road Trip, I searched out alternative vehicles and sustainable transportation and tried them out first-hand. By avoiding highways I documented America from its rail lines, waterways, bike paths, and forest trails and tried to create a unique and interactive media-rich postcard of our country. So you took the trip - now what? I only used a small portion of my footage for my video updates, and all those other hours of media were burning a hole in my pocket. Then I heard about Halogen, a new cable channel that was producing some awesome socially conscious/environmental/fun programming and I sent them an email. After a few months of emails and phone calls I licensed them my footage and we started working on a 10-episode series. Where can I see the TV show? The show is now airing on Halogen TV and episodes are available online too at HalogenTV.com/UnRoadTrip. Check it out and let me know what you think! Who's this Boaz guy? Good question. Let me talk about myself in the third person for a bit: Boaz has a wide range of interests, and he's explored a lot of them in his twenty-some years. He started the west coast's only kazoo museum, he's surveyed wombat burrows in the Australian bush, and he's a Guinness World Record Holder for high-fiving. Boaz has also been producing television and video since 2001. But there's a whole other site about that. Head over to GoBoaz.com to check that out. This all sounds pretty cool. Can we be friends? Sure! Send me an email at boaz(at)unroadtrip(dot)com. |
